Queen Danielle Wilcoxson

Parent’s names - Greg and Rhonda Wilcoxson

Born where - Edmonds, Washington

High School - Marysville-Pilchuck High School (Senior) :)

Marysville/Lakewood resident for - 16 1/2 years

School Activities  - I am on the ASMP Executive board (Associated Students of Marysville-Pilchuck...student government) where I served as historian my sophomore year and secretary my junior and senior years. I have been a member of the choir club, the drama club where I’ve performed in two of our musicals (Footloose and High School Musical), and the journalism club where I am a staff writer, and the news editor. I am also in the National Honors Society, the Academic Challenge program, and I am on the honor roll.

Awards from school - I received the Leadership award my freshman year, after I was nominated by my French teacher. I have also earned 2 (soon to be 3!) varsity letters in ASMP leadership. In the choir club I was voted “Best 2nd Soprano” by my classmates.

Community Involvement - I am involved in various community service projects through my church - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have volunteered at the Marysville Food Bank and done quite a few food drives. I have also worked as a volunteer at Desert Industries – a local second hand store. I recently sent in 25 ABC books that will be sent to third world countries to help teach children English. Through ASMP I have done multiple toy drives and have helped with Miracle on State Street - a program where high school classrooms provide presents and a Christmas dinner for underprivileged families in Marysville.

Continuing Education (College, Trade school, etc.) - I will be going to Brigham Young University - Idaho  in the fall.

College Major - Psychology and Music.  I want to do music therapy in an eating disorder clinic when I grow up.

Hobbies or interest - I absolutely LOVE to sing! I sing in my room, in my car, even in the shower!! I also like to play the flute, play the piano, and make my own clothes.

Why you decided to compete for the Royalty Court? When I was little I would always go to the Strawberry Festival parade and see the girls up on the float, and I would always say “Mommy that’s what I want to be when I grow up!” Then three years ago my sister won Royal Ambassador, and I saw how much fun she had and I knew it was something that I definitely wanted to try for myself!

What experiences so far in the festival is something you will always remember? We were going a little bit fast on our way to the Apple Blossom Festival over in Wenatchee, and we got pulled over by a very nice State Trooper who decided to give us a ticket!

Who is your role model and why? Like most teenage girls I have to say my mom! Throughout high school she slowly but surely became my best friend, and I know that I can go to her for anything and everything. She is such a strong woman, and has taught me so much in my life. She has taught me the basics that I will need when I start my own family (which won’t be anytime soon!) and has helped me grow in so many aspects of my life!

My other role model would be Joan of Arc. She was a girl who defied all odds and did what she knew she was supposed to do, even though people told her not to even try! She put her heart and soul and ultimately her life into something that she believed in. She never backed down from what she knew was the truth. Her life encourages me to stand up for the things I believe in even if it’s not easy and people tell me to not even try.

Other interesting tidbits we should know - I recently bet my grandpa that I would NOT get married before I was 26! I still plan on winning! :)

When I was three, I tried shaving my tongue! And it hurt...a lot!

I chose Eating Disorder Awareness, as my pageant platform and I have started a campaign called, “Embrace Your Genes!”  When you visit Market-In-The-Park bring any jeans that do not comfortably fit the real you and drop them in the donation box at the main entrance (next to the Strawberry Festival canopy). All of the jeans will be donated to local charities in need.

Your advice for future Royalty Candidates - Have fun!! Just relax and be yourself! Your attitude is everything! If your parents are anything like mine they’ve told you at least once “It’s not what you say, it’s the way you say it!” And that is totally true in the pageant. If you have a good attitude and you just have fun you’ll do amazing!!  This is a once in a lifetime experience, and something you definitely want to try for! Even if you don’t make it, you’ll have a blast doing the pageant! Good luck!
