WENATCHEE

by Carol Kapua:

Thanks to Chuck for getting so much ready for us to take the trip to Wenatchee.  Tom flew up from Las Vegas to drive the truck and trailer over to Wenatchee. Judy and I went with him and we left on Wednesday. No traffic or police. It was cold because it had snowed over there on Tuesday night. Doesn't it ever go away??????

Judy and I stayed out at the estate. It was nice and quiet and we were able to get some sun.

Bobbi came over on Friday and Tom had an old college roommate (Rick Mills) meet us there and he drove the float. Great guy and lots of help. We also received help from Issaquah's Candy Hammer and Oscar Kelley. Nice to have festival friends. Saturday morning Teresa and the royalty and their body guard arrived and also Jodi followed them over. We also had Shelby's parents and her brother Hunter.

Hunter and Judy carried the banner. If you all have not heard Judy broke her wrist in 5 places a week ago Thursday. What a trooper. Jodi traded off carrying the banner with her.

After the parade everyone helped putting the float away including Greg and Amy Edwards. It is great to have the much appreciated help of Shelby's family. I got a break and went to Director General Linda Haglund's house (of Apple Blossom) to cook the hotdogs.  You would not believe it - but I did get lost. But I got back and but Shelby's family left and so did the Edwards.  Sorry about that because we ate very well and then everyone went their separate ways. Capital Lakefair's float people and the Hyack float people joined us.

The Royalty did a very good job and the crowds were very good to us and won the Sponsor's Choice Award.  It is a big one for us to win there.

The float came home on Sunday afternoon and then I took Tom to the airport to go back home.

Thanks to all for all your help and taking part.

This coming weekend is the parade in Sequim. The float is leaving sometime early afternoon for over there. If anyone is interested in going please let me know. Jodi, Toni, Frank, and Sara will be coming over around 5pm. We will be spending the night because we have to drive around and will have to have the float put together early and then the float will be left in Pt. Townsend for the next weekend and the parade.

The dress for these 2 parades is red polo shirts, black pants, black shoes. Bring your wind breakers.

After the Sequim parade we will take the ferry back to Oak Harbor from Pt. Townsend and then back to Pt. Townsend and after Pt. Townsend the float will drive around and back home.

We need your help for those of you who have not done any parades.  Let me hear from you.

We will have food!
