LAKE CITY

Pictures to come!

by Carol Kapua:

Hi all,

Lake City was our last parade and it was hot. We had Jodi, Debbie, Genie, her other half - Michael, Chuck, Sara and myself. We got it together but did not get the dirt blown off so we got second in floats. The judges remarked how dirty it was. We had to get the trailer to the end of the parade so it did not get blown off. Sara did her outstanding job and the crowd was nice to us. It was cooler by the time we go to the end and we put the float away and had our picnic. We then headed home. Thanks to those who did this parade because it was so hot.

We are leaving for Penticton in the morning and will do their parade on Saturday morning and from there we will pack up and head for Omak and do their parade Sunday morning and then pack up and head for home. We have a small crew Tom, Jodi, Linda H. and myself.

We have been told that Penticton, Horizon Airlines and possibly Omak will join us next year and also Prosser. We made some very good friends this last year and connections. We will see.

The next weekend will be Astoria. Those of you that will be going we will be leaving Thursday morning at 10am. It is a 4-5 hour drive. We take our own food in order to cut costs and we do have a good time. DC will be wearing his tutu. Azzlinn won the strawberry eating contest. We are staying at the Dunes Hotel and it does have an indoor swimming pool so bring your swim suits.  Make sure you bring clothes for any kind of weather. We will be taking the festival van, The Hintzes are taking their van, the Michals are driving and Walter is driving the truck and trailer.

We have the following for dinner: hot dogs, hamburgers, sockeye (fresh), chicken, lasagna, waffles, and pancakes for breakfast, honey, jam, peanut butter, lunchmeat and cheese for lunch. We need to have salads, and desserts. Judy is bringing a pasta salad and a potato salad. Cereal for breakfast, fruit, milk, and whatever else you may want to bring. We will have some chips and crackers, water and soda. We have a BBQ so we have something to cook on. If you have an extra toaster you might want to bring that too. All the rooms have a very small refrigerator in them so some of our stuff that needs to be in the refrigerator can.

Saturday evening some of you have tickets to go to the show that DC will be in. You will have front row seats. We will be there Thursday, Friday, Saturday and come home on Sunday.

If you have any questions please email me or call.

Caboose...... We need to clean all of our stuff out of it and it needs to be done soon as they want to start repairs soon. We have a new storage locker at freeway to put the stuff in that we are going to keep and then we need to take the rest to the dump. If any of you have pickup trucks that would be helpful for hauling. Angie is in charge of this and just a reminder we need to have an inventory taken by someone so that we can turn it into our insurance company. Taking pictures is a good thing - especially of what is going to the dump. This will take place this Saturday the 8th at 11am. Please contact Angie in regards to this either by email or phone. You will needs to wear gloves, wear a mask if you have one and shoes because there is stuff on the floor. Thank you for all your help.

If anyone needs to get into the storage units I have a set of keys now to all of the units.

Thanks to all for all that you do to make this a great festival. This is the time we really need your help.
